Dear NEMO scientists
I’m reaching out here because the EGU Journal Geoscientific Model Development (GMD) is currently looking for Topical Editors (TEs) to handle our ever increasing volume of article submissions. Key topics for the journal are oceanography and all aspects of ocean model development: from simple configurations through to earth system model components such as NEMO.
More generally GMD accepts submissions from across the geosciences with contributions from all aspects of model development research. We therefore welcome interest from scientists with the broad expertise represented in this group.
If you are at all interested, please provide a sentence or two on your career background and stage (generally postdoc and beyond), a resume/CV, an institutional or personal webpage and a google scholar link or similar. However, none of this is strictly mandatory. We have a very holistic selection process so please provide any information you think relevant to your application. Please do reply here or to my email at the bottom of this post with an expression of interest or any questions.
To give you an idea of duties, TEs are generally expected to handle at least 5-6 submissions per year, whereby they guide the whole review process, including assigning reviewers and making final decisions.
For more details, please take a look at the GMD editorial process (“GMD editorial policy”) and our somewhat unique open data requirements (“Code and data policy”) that we ask TEs to commit to enforcing.
The whole TE process, start to end, occurs through the GMD webpage portal.
Please feel free to send me any questions or thoughts.
If you feel you are not able to take this on, any suggestions for other scientists you may have would be greatly appreciated. Most current TEs came from recommendations from other scientists.
