PISCES Advanced Training Announcement

Dear marine biogeochemistry modelers,

Registration for the advanced training session on PISCES is open from April 18 to May 18, 2022.

The training session will take place from October 11 to 13, 2022 in Paris (18 people max.)

Registration is open to people with an academic background in oceanography and marine biogeochemistry and with a solid experience in using the PISCES model on one of the following ocean platforms : NEMO and CROCO. Priority will be given to master and doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows. Knowledge of the Unix environment is a prerequisite for this training.

Travel and accommodation costs can be covered by the organizing committee for a limited number of people, with priority given to students and post-docs from the South. Our ability to cover travel and accommodation costs will depend heavily on the number of participants and their country of departure. More precise information on funding will be provided once the selection of candidates is completed.

Objectives: explore different features and tuning possibilities of PISCES

  • Lectures : Presentation on modelling choices, code architecture and main features of PISCES.
  • Tuning session : Exploring the sensitivity of PISCES to a set of parameters
  • Coding session : Addition of a new biogeochemical tracer with NEMO or CROCO
  • Additional session: Introduction to diagenesis (sediment module) or full quota model, followed by a short practical session
