Running AGRIF with tides (Nemo 4.2.2)

Dear all,

My AGRIF nest crashes, not immediately, but after a while, whatever I do if I run with tides. Using Nemo 4.2.2

The crash occurs in the barotropic mode, and generates NaNs quickly all over the place.

Based on the experience of a colleague, there could be a bug in Nemo 4.2.2, has anyone had a similar experience ?

Hi Robinson,

I have successfully run NEMO v4.2.0 and v5.0 with tides and AGRIF nests.

It could be worth checking whether some steep bathymetry near the boundaries or along coasts (if relevant) is a cause for the crash, sometimes either changing or closing a couple of points can solve stability problems with tides…

Thanks a lot for your help. I have thought of such ideas, especially as the Norwegian coast if full of fjords with sills (especially at high resolution) etc… Increasing the minimum depth for example helped, but still the model would crash at some point.

But now that i know you made it work then i know it is possible, and i will keep on searching :slight_smile:
